Ukraine hopes for approval of Naftogaz loan within one, two weeks

BRUSSELS. June 18 (Interfax) - Ukraine hopes that a loan Naftogaz needs for repaying Russian natural gas supplies will be approved in one or two weeks, Naftogaz Deputy CEO Ihor Dydenko told the media in Brussels on Thursday after a meeting of the gas coordinating group.

"We are full of expectations. Possibly, the problem will be generally resolved tonight, at the dinner of EU chiefs of state, or within a week or two. Once the decision is made, we will meet with experts and scan the program page after page. We expect the basic consent next week," Dydenko said.

"Ukraine asked EU representatives to convey the request for assistance to their leaders, so that we could get a $4.2 billion loan from international financial organizations," he said.
