Medvedev discusses situation in Ingushetia following assassination attempt

MOSCOW. June 21 (Interfax) - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev is holding a meeting with Federal Security Service head Alexander Bortnikov and Interior Minister Rashid Nurgaliyev to discuss the situation following the attempt on the life of Ingushetian President Yunus-Bek Yevkurov.

"A terrorist act has taken place in Ingushetia - an attempt on the life of Ingushetian President Yunus-Bek Yevkurov. This was done by militants, of course," Medvedev said opening the meeting.

"I would want you to report what the situation is, and what happened. After that we will think of additional measures to strengthen law and order and to introduce controls," he told Bortnikov and Nurgaliyev.

He said he would send his envoy to Ingushetia and told the officials to keep an eye on the developments.
