Dollar plummets against ruble, euro hits 6-week high

MOSCOW. June 24 (Interfax) - The dollar plummeted 44 kopecks to 31.1365 rubles/$1 on the MICEX exchange on Wednesday.

This is the rate the Central Bank will use as its official rate for tomorrow.

The euro, for its part, soared 20 kopecks to a six-week high of 43.90-43.95 rubles/EUR1, and reached 44 rubles once the MICEX index session had closed.

The dollar fell heavily against the euro on the Forex market amid mounting speculation that the Federal Reserve will leave base rates unchanged at 0%-0.25% until at least the end of this year.

The Central Bank's dual currency basket ($0.55 and EUR 0.45) fell slightly to 36.9 rubles initially before rising 5-7 kopecks to 36.95-36.97 rubles. It had risen to 37.1 rubles to its highest level since May 19 on Tuesday.
