Econ Ministry replaces investment policy director
MOSCOW. July 14 (Interfax) - Sergei Belyakov has been appointed director of the Economic Development Ministry's department for investment policy and development of state-private partnership.
The appointment was made late last week, a source at the ministry told Interfax.
The department was previously headed by Dmitry Levchenkov.
Belyakov has been an adviser on tax policy and state-private partnership to Economic Development Minister Elvira Nabiullina since July 2008. Previously he served as deputy chairman of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs' committee on budget and tax policy.
The department has four divisions: raising and facilitating investment; tax stimulus; development of state-private partnership; and international cooperation in investment policy.
The department acquired some prominence with the advent car assembly and component manufacturing deals in Russia, as it is in charge of negotiating and concluding investment agreements with foreign auto makers.
