Kazakhstan boosts agricultural output by 2.7% in H1
ALMATY. July 15 (Interfax) - In January-June 2009, Kazakhstan produced 329.1 billion tenge (150.65 tenge/$1 on July 15, 2009) in agricultural output, which is a 2.7% year-on-year increase, the State Statistics Agency said in a statement.
Animal husbandry went up 3% to 317.8 billion tenge while horticultural output dropped by 5.2% to 11.3 billion tenge.
As of July 1, 2009, cattle output had increased by 2.8% to 7.359 million head, horse - 5.7% to 1,642 head, poultry - 10.1% to 35.4595 million units, and sheep and goat - 3.8% to 22.076 million head. Hog output decreased by 1.7% to 1.968 million head.
