Ruble closes week at stable position, dollar posts slight gains

MOSCOW. July 17 (Interfax) - The U.S. dollar posted gains on the MICEX on Friday while the euro declined. The ruble posted slight variations against the bi-currency basket in light of declining trading activity and fluctuations on the oil market.

The dollar went up by 7.5 kopecks to close at 31.8 rubles/$1 while the euro dropped by 5.5 kopecks to 44.815 rubles/EUR1.

The bi-currency closed at 37.657 rubles.

The dollar's average weighted exchange rate on the MICEX went up 5.98 kopecks to 31.7611 rubles/$1 in Today deals on Friday and by 5.93 kopecks to 31.7875 rubles/$1 in Tomorrow deals. Combined dollar trading on the MICEX amounted to $3.413 billion, of which $924.6 million were Today deals and $2.489 billion were Tomorrow deals.

The euro's average exchange rate increased by 17.23 kopecks to 44.754 rubles in Today deals and by 8.6 kopecks to 44.8073 rubles/EUR1 in Tomorrow deals. Total euro trading came to 192.5 million euro, of which 69.3 million euro were Today deals and 123.2 million euro were Tomorrow deals.

The overnight MosPrime Rate came to 6.46%, down eight basis points for the day.
