Dollar and euro fall in MICEX trading at week
MOSCOW. July 24 (Interfax) - The U.S. dollar and euro closed the week in MICEX trading on Friday with substantial losses as the ruble strengthened against the bi-currency basket.
The dollar fell by 25.5 kopecks to close at 30.92 rubles/$1 while the euro went down by 37.5 kopecks to 43.98 rubles/EUR1. For the week, the dollar has lost 88 kopecks while the euro fell by 83.5 kopecks.
The bi-currency basket fell by 31 kopecks for the day to 37.8 rubles.
The dollar's average weighted exchange rate on the MICEX went down 3.2 kopecks to 31.10944 rubles/$1 in Today deals on Friday and by 7.46 kopecks to 31.09692 rubles/$1 in Tomorrow deals. Combined dollar trading on the MICEX amounted to $4.061 billion, of which $1.138 million were Today deals and $2.923 billion were Tomorrow deals.
The euro's average exchange rate decreased by 13.86 kopecks to 44.1631 rubles in Today deals and by 17.46 kopecks to 44.1775 rubles/EUR1 in Tomorrow deals. Total euro trading came to 215.1 million euro, of which 95.9 million euro were Today deals and 119.2 million euro were Tomorrow deals.
The overnight MosPrime Rate came to 6.47%, up 34 basis points for the day.
