TVZ to produce railcars for RZD using Siemens technology

ST. PETERSBURG. July 30 (Interfax) - OJSC Russian Railways (RZD) and OJSC Tver Vagonostroitelnyi Zavod (TVZ) have signed an agreement for the production of Ritz railcars, an Interfax correspondent at the signing ceremony reported.

Dietrich Moller, the head of Siemens' Russian operations, said that the railcars would be produced at TVZ using the German concern's technology.

Moller said a total of 200 railcars would be purchased, adding that the value of Siemens technology for the project will come to 320 million euro.

According to the agreement, RZD will acquire these railcars within five years.

The cost of one railcar comes to around 2.8 million euro.
