Alrosa appoints vice president for financial policy

MOSCOW. Aug 10 (Interfax) - Alrosa has appointed Igor Kulichik as vice president for financial policy, the Russian diamond monopoly said.

Kulichik, formerly the company's chief treasurer and finance director, will be responsible for financial policy issues as well as Alrosa's projects in Africa, and the activity of subsidiaries and affiliates.

Alrosa also said it sold $35 million in uncut diamonds on the market in the first ten days of August. It sold $150 million on the market when it resumed commercial sales in July, mostly under long-term contracts.

Alrosa has also built up cut diamond stockpiles since the crisis began, and Fyodor Andreyev, the company's recently appointed president, Monday ordered that Brillianty Alrosa, the division that handles cut diamond sales, draft proposals on pricing and selling the stockpiles.
