Dollar posts slight gains in MICEX trading, ruble slides against bi-currency basket

MOSCOW. Aug 19 (Interfax) - The U.S. dollar posted moderate gains in MICEX trading on Wednesday while the euro moved up further following its performance in forex trading. The ruble posted slight losses to the bi-currency basket by day's end.

The dollar posted 2.5 kopecks in gains to close at 32.005 rubles/$1 while the euro went up by 15.19 kopecks to 45.1919 rubles/EUR1.

The bi-currency basket increased by eight kopecks to 37.94 rubles.

The dollar's average weighted exchange rate on the MICEX went up 4.83 kopecks to 31.9441 rubles/$1 in Today deals on Wednesday and by 3.84 kopecks to 31.9489 rubles/$1 in Tomorrow deals. Combined dollar trading on the MICEX amounted to $4.468 billion, of which $1.052 billion were Today deals and $3.415 billion were Tomorrow deals.

The euro's average exchange rate decreased by 3.98 kopecks to 45.0208/EUR1 rubles in Today deals and increased by 4.56 kopecks to 45.0808 rubles/EUR1 in Tomorrow deals. Total euro trading came to 163.8 million euro, of which 76.1 million euro were Today deals and 87.7 million euro were Tomorrow deals.

The overnight MIACR came to 8.08%, up 95 basis points for the day.
