Ukraine will buy less Russian gas

LVIV. Aug 20 (Interfax) - Ukraine plans to reduce its purchase of Russian gas to 25 billion cubic meters, said Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko.

"This year, we have bought 33 billion cubic meters of Russian gas, and next year we will buy 25 billion cubic meters," Tymoshenko said at the World Congress of Ukrainians held in Lviv on Thursday.

Ukraine plans to practice energy conservation more actively and use alternative fuel, including coal, Tymoshenko says.
