Watchdog inspecting hydro equipment at Angara-Yenisei Cascade, Siberian plants

MOSCOW. Aug 21 (Interfax) - The Federal Environmental, Technological and Atomic Oversight Service (Rostekhnadzor) will inspect technical hydroelectric facilities, hydroelectric turbines and electrical equipment at the Angara-Yenisei Cascade as well as heating stations that are part of the Siberian united energy system, the service said in a statement.

The inspection at the Angara-Yenisei Cascade will be held from August 20 until September 10, while the inspection of the heating plants will be held from August 20 until September 20.

Rostekhnadzor wants to ensure the plants are prepared for the fall and winter and also check their capabilities of compensating the shortfall in power resulting from the accident at the Sayano-Shushenskaya Hydroelectric Power Plant. During the inspections, Rostekhnadzor will take account of fuel reserves and also look at the distribution of material, financial and human resources when carrying out repairs at the power networks of the Siberian united energy system.

The results of the inspections will be reviewed by Rostekhnadzor's energy and construction oversight department immediately.
