Gazprom upped gas purchases 46% in Q1

MOSCOW. Aug 26 (Interfax) - Gazprom increased gas purchases 46% in the first quarter of 2009 to 41 billion cubic meters, from 28 bcm in the same period of last year, Mikhail Roseyev, head of the Russian gas giant's consolidated reporting division, said during a conference call.

Gazprom Germania accounted for 16 bcm of this, compared with 8 bcm in the same period of last year.

Gas consumption in Ukraine was minimal, so most of the purchased gas was exported, Roseyev said.
