Sheremetyevo-2 operating as usual, with only few flights being delayed

MOSCOW. Sept 4 (Interfax) - The Sheremetyevo international airport is working as normal on Friday morning, operating all aircraft landings and takeoffs, the company told Interfax.

"There have been no disruptions at the airport, several airlines' flights are being delayed for the reasons beyond Sheremetyevo's control," the company said.

"The airport is operating as usual: passengers and airlines are provided with regular services. The reports about suspended services are untrue. Currently, five flights operated by Aeroflot are slightly delayed at terminal 2 due to limited border services," the company's spokesperson said.

"Current delays will soon be removed, the management is taking all steps to regulate the situation," he said.

Meanwhile, an airport source told Interfax that certain flights at the Sheremetyevo terminal 2 have been delayed for several reasons.

"First of all, the insufficient number of border officials at passport control, which led to the crowding of people who checked in but were late for boarding," the source said.

Another reason for delay is "the routine renovation of the airport's air traffic control radar system," the official said. "This led to minor technical disruptions causing the delay of several tour operators' planes bound for a number of European airports, in particular, Nice," the source said.
