Uraltrubprom reduces pipe output 44% in 8 mths

YEKATERINBURG. Sept 7 (Interfax) - The Uraltrubprom pipe works from the Sverdlovsk region produced 83,210 tonnes of pipes in January-August, down 44.1% year-on-year, the company told Interfax.

The plant reduced production of oil pipeline tubes by 10.7% to 48,619 tonnes. Production of shaped pipes fell 63.4% to 34,591 tonnes.

Uraltrubprom sold 84,155 tonnes of pipes, or 42.6% less year-on-year. This included 48,096 tonnes of oil pipeline tubes and 36,059 tonnes of shaped pipes, respectively 9.7% and 61.4% less.

Uraltrubprom cut pipe output 18.4% in 2008 to 191,344 tonnes.

Uraltrubprom produces electric-welded straight-seam pipes 159-426 mm in diameter and shaped pipes 80x80 to 300x300 mm for the oil and gas, construction, power and machine-building industries, and utility providers. It was Russia's second biggest producer of shaped pipes in 2008 and tenth biggest pipe mill overall. Tubular products are sold in all regions of Russia, and in the CIS and Europe.
