Almaty. September 8. Interfax-Kazakhstan - Kazakhstan's National Atomic Company Kazatomprom will open an office this month in Beijing, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Sauat Mynbayev told the Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishan, co-chairman of Kazakh-Chinese cooperation committee.

Kazatomprom will open an office in Beijing to implement bilateral agreements between Kazakh and Chinese companies and create joint ventures in uranium mining and nuclear energy, according to an Interior Ministry press release.

Cooperation on oil and gas development was also discussed. Construction of the Kenkiyak-Kumkol section of the Kazakhstan-China pipeline, which is scheduled to be completed in October, will double throughput capacity from 10 million tons to 20 million tons of oil a year.

In addition, the launch of the first line of the transnational gas pipeline Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan-China is scheduled for November and the second line for July 2010.

Mynbayev also met with CNPC chairman Jiang Jemin to discuss prospects of CNPC-Aktobemunaigas that develops Zhanazhol and Kenkiyak fields in Aktyubinsk oblast and the upcoming launch of the Kazakhstan-China pipeline.
