Tianwei Baobian signs thin-film solar cell supply contract with Thai developer

Shanghai. September 8. INTERFAX-CHINA - Baoding Tianwei Baobian Electric Co. Ltd. has signed an exclusive contract to supply thin-film solar cells to BGS, a solar project developer based in Thailand, Tianwei Baobian announced on Sept. 8.

BGS agreed to purchase 100 megawatts (MW) of thin-film solar cells from 2009 to 2011. Under the contract, Tianwei Baobian will supply BGS with no less than 5 MW of thin-film solar cells in 2009, no less than 25 MW in 2010 and no less than 40 MW in 2011, according to the announcement.

The announcement did not reveal the value of the contract, though the two companies are allowed to renegotiate the deal on an annual basis.

Tianwei Baobian said it has formed a strategic partnership with BGS and plans to work with the company on other solar projects in Southeast Asia. BGS has also done business in countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and the Philippines.
