Kazakhstan lowers oil refinement by 11.5% in 8 mths

ASTANA. Sept 11 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan's oil refinement in January-August 2009 came to 7,475,191 tonnes, a year-on-year decrease of 11.5%, the Kazakh government told Interfax.

Total oil refinement in August 2009 came to 1,095,605 tonnes.

The Pavlodar Oil Refinery cut throughput 10.9% to 2.337 million tonnes in the eight months, PetroKazakhstan Oil Products (PKOP) reduced it 13.6% to 2.662 million tonnes and the Atyrau Oil Refinery cut it 9.7% to 2.476 million tonnes.

Kazakhstan produced 1.632 million tonnes of gasoline in January- August, down 3.4% from the first eight months of 2008. The Pavlodar refinery raised gasoline production 0.1% to 729,827 tonnes, PKOP decreased production 11.7% to 539,787 tonnes and the Atyrau refinery increased output 3.8% to 362,000 tonnes

The country's refineries produced 2.469 million tonnes of diesel fuel in the period, down 10% from the same period of 2008; 2.035 million tonnes of fuel oil, down 6.3%; 413,408 tonnes of vacuum distillate, down 32.6%; 209,469 tonnes of jet fuel, down 24.6%; and 131,764 tonnes of liquefied gases, up 22.4%.
