China Coal Energy produces 10.03 mln tons of coal in August

Shanghai. September 15. INTERFAX-CHINA - China Coal Energy Co. Ltd., the county's second-largest coal producer, produced 10.03 million tons of coal in August this year, up 13.2 percent from the same period a year ago, the company announced on Sept. 15.

In the same month, the company raised its coke output to 480,000 tons, according to company statistics.

Over the first eight months of this year, China Coal Energy produced 73.02 million tons of coal, growing by 9.7 percent year-on-year. Meanwhile, it produced about 2.86 million tons of coke, about the same amount it produced over the same period a year ago.

Nevertheless, due to shrinking demand and plummeting coal prices in the overseas market, China Coal Energy's coal exports sank by 77 percent year-on-year to 2.58 million tons over the first eight months of the year, the company said.
