MOSCOW. Sept 17 (Interfax) - The purchase of Opel by the Canadian concern Magna and Russia's Sberbank is an economic deal with a certain political dimension, but no secret political undercurrent is involved here, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Thursday.
"Politics and economy are mutually related. But in this precise context, the Opel deal, in essence, primarily pursues economic goals for us. However, honestly, given its scope and the election context in Germany, it has a certain political dimension," Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Andrei Nesterenko said.
"Anyway, no secret political agenda should be looked for in the deal," he said.
