Kazakhstan picks EADS Astrium to be strategic partner in space projects
ASTANA. Sept 22 (Interfax-AVN) - Kazakhstan has picked France's EADS Astrium to be its strategic partner in implementing projects to build an assembly, space testing center and space satellite system for remote earth probing.
"These projects will be implemented jointly with a strategic partner. The prime minister formed an interagency working group to pick a strategic partner from the choice of France's EADS Astrium, Thales Alenia Space and Canada's MDA. Following an analysis the working group backed the Kazakh space agency Kazcosmos's choice of EADS Astrium as strategic partner," Kazcosmos said in a statement
Kazcosmos wants to build the assembly and testing center in Astana, according to the statement.
"Kazcosmos has drafted a contract to build a remote earth probing system and negotiated it with its strategic partner, detailing the parameters of productivity," the statement says.
It has also negotiated the basic technical parameters of the assembly and testing center, including the layout of the sites and technical characteristics of the equipment.
