Russia will remain liberal market economy, despite crisis
MOSCOW. Sept 29 (Interfax) - Russia will remain a liberal, market economy despite the global crisis, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said at an investment forum on Tuesday, organized by VTB Capital.
Despite the crisis, the country saw "neither a large-scale nationalization, nor slipping into total administrative regulation. We still have a free movement of capital and a convertible ruble," Putin said.
"I am certain that all this sent a reassuring signal to investors: there is no going back to the past. Russia remains a liberal, market economy. And today I would like to reiterate: we will coherently continue our line towards encouraging private initiative, integration in the global economy and creating a favorable investment climate," Putin said.
