Denmark doubles total gas purchases through Nord Stream

MOSCOW. Oct 1 (Interfax) - Russian gas giant Gazprom and Denmark's DONG Energy has signed a contract for additional supplies of Russian gas to Denmark through the Nord Stream gas pipeline, the Russian concern said in a statement.

The statement said that, in accordance with a document from DONG Energy, starting from 2012 and over a period of 18 years, an additional one billion cubic meters of gas would be supplied annually through Nord Stream's second branch.

In 2006, DONG Energy had a contract for the supply of 1 bcm of gas through Nord Stream starting form 2011 over a period of 20 years.
