Severstal could ship feedstock to Corus Tubes
MOSCOW. Oct 5 (Interfax) - Cherepovets Iron & Steel Works (CherMK), the flagship enterprise of the Severstal steel group, has supplied a trial consignment of steel plate, produced at a 5000 Mill, to Corus Tubes to produce oil and gas pipeline tubes, CherMK said in at statement.
The company told Interfax that Corus Tubes might decide to buy the feedstock on a regular basis if this passes its tests.
The Cherepovets plant is supplying the plate as part of a program to increase cooperation with pipe producers and acquire the expertise needed for future pipe projects at Severstal, said Anatoly Kruchinin, head of Severstal Russian Steel.
"Production volumes are being ramped up at prsent precisely fro this sector. Utilization of the 5000 Mill doubled in H2 2009 compared with H2 2009," Kruchinin said.
