Dollar hits 2009 low, ruble gains against bi-currency basket

MOSCOW. Oct 6 (Interfax) - The ruble continued to gain against the dollar and the bi-currency basket in trading on the MICEX on Tuesday owing to growth on world markets. The dollar hit an annual low of 29.8 rubles during trading today.

The dollar closed at 29.83 rubles/$1 while the euro increased by five kopecks to 43.93 rubles/EUR1.

The bi-currency basket declined by 10 kopecks to 36.175 rubles.

The dollar's average weighted exchange rate on the MICEX went down by 24.68 kopecks to 29.8273 rubles/$1 in Tomorrow deals on Tuesday and 25.04 kopecks to 29.8257 rubles/$1 in Tomorrow deals. Combined dollar trading on the MICEX amounted to $3.587 billion, of which $730.746 million were Today deals and $2.856 billion were Tomorrow deals.

The euro's average exchange rate decreased by 6.3 kopecks to 43.9459/EUR1 rubles in Today deals and 5.4 kopecks to 43,9293 rubles/EUR1 in Tomorrow deals. Total euro trading came to 185.488 million euro, of which 81.769 million euro were Today deals and 103.719 million euro were Tomorrow deals.

The overnight MIACR came to 5.96%, up 11 basis points for the day.
