EU to inspect safety systems at Russian poultry farms for future supplies

MOSCOW. Oct 6 (Interfax) - A group of inspectors from the European Union has arrived in Russia to inspect the Russian poultry production safety system, the Russian agricultural watchdog (Rosselkhoznadzor) said in a statement.

The group will be in Russia until October 16, during which period it will visit poultry processing facilities that are keen to supply their products to Europe, as well as the Rosselkhoznadzor's poultry farms and laboratories in the Moscow, Omsk and Belgorod regions and in Tatarstan, the statement said.

Currently, no Russian poultry company is importing its products to EU countries. The domestic poultry market is heavily dependent on imports, and the Russian authorities have set the task to eliminate this dependence in the next few years.
