Fiat wants to make SUVs in Russia

MOSCOW. Oct 8 (Interfax) - Italian Fiat plans to organize production of SUVs in Russia, Fiat Group CEO Sergio Marchionne said at a meeting with Prime Minister Vladimir Putin on Thursday.

"We want to have jeep production in Russia," he said.

Fiat, which recently purchased Chrysler, will expand cooperation with Sollers , he said, confirming Fiat's commitments with Sollers.

Putin said the "jeeps are a very useful vehicle, given that we still need to build a large number of roads."

"Everything that is being done jointly, is done on a positive note and with growing trust in each other. The investment activity will always be welcome, direct investment even more so," Putin said..
