Russian companies should give preference to local partners in creating consortiums - Alekperov

MOSCOW. Oct 9 (Interfax) - Russia's oil and gas companies should give preference to domestic partners and not foreign firms in the creation of local consortiums, Lukoil's President, Vagit Alekperov, said in an interview with the television channel Vesti.

"In Russia we are competitive with our overseas colleagues. We have the technology and unique personnel who are ready to work in extreme conditions," he said.

Alekperov added that Lukoil has been successfully working with Rosneft and Gazprom . He also said that five Russian companies have been successful in agreeing on joint efforts in Venezuela. "I think that, in Russia, in the difficult regions like the Artic and Eastern Siberia, we should be listening to other and know how to reach agreements jointly," Alekperov stressed.
