Ruble weakens 5.6% against major currencies in 9 mths
MOSCOW. Oct 9 (Interfax) - The ruble fell approximately 5.6% in real terms against the currencies of Russia's major trading partners during January-September, the Central Bank said on its website.
It fell 4% against the U.S. dollar and 9.2% against the euro.
The ruble strengthened an estimated 1.1% against the major currencies in September, including by 2.4% against the dollar and 0.3% against the euro.
The ruble fell 5.9% against the currencies in January-September compared with the same period of last year, including 15.8% against the dollar and 7.7% against the euro.
The Russian Economic Development Ministry says in its latest forecast that the ruble could weaken 4.1% against the major currencies this year as a whole, after strengthening 5.1% in 2008.
