Kazakhstan oil refining down 9.7% in 9 mths

ASTANA. Oct 9 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan refined 8.676 million tonnes of oil in January-September 2009, 9.7% less than in the same period last year, the Kazakh government told Interfax.

Refining in September totaled 1.201 million tonnes.

The Pavlodar Oil Refinery reduced throughput 8.8% to 2.740 million tonnes in the nine months, PetroKazakhstan Oil Products (PKOP) refined 3.102 million tonnes, 12.2% less, and Atyrau Oil Refinery refined 2.834 million tonnes, 7.7% less.

Kazakhstan produced 1.864 million tonnes of gasoline in January-September, down 1.8% year-on-year. The Pavlodar refinery raised gasoline production 2.0% to 0.841 million tonnes, PKOP decreased production 10.3% to 0.623 million tonnes and the Atyrau refinery boosted output 5.4% to 0.400 million tonnes.

The country's refineries produced 2.852 million tonnes of diesel fuel in the period, down 7.9% from the same period of 2008; 2.320 million tonnes of fuel oil, down 5.6%; 0.488 million tonnes of vacuum distillate, down 30.0%; 0.251 million tonnes of jet fuel, down 25.3%; and 1.304 million tonnes of liquefied gases, up 24.2%.
