Kazakhstan ups farm output 1.7% in 9 mths

ALMATY. Oct 15 (Interfax) - Agricultural output in Kazakhstan rose 1.7% year-on-year in January-September to 1.064 trillion tenge, the State Statistics Agency said.

Meat and dairy output rose 2.6% to 499.4 billion tenge and arable production went up 1% to 564.1 billion tenge.

Farms had 6.827 million cattle as of October 1, 2009 - 2.2% more than a year previously. They had 16.806 million sheep, up 3.6%, 3.192 million goats, up 3.3%, 1,571 horses, up 5.3%, and the number of poultry rose 6.6% to 36.25 million.
