Nissan plant in St. Petersburg begins commercial production of X-Trail

ST. PETERSBURG. Nov 2 (Interfax) - Nissan Manufacturing Rus began commercial production of the Nissan X-Trail compact SUV on Monday, Nissan's Russian representation told Interfax.

It did not report planned production volumes, saying that figure has been in flux throughout the launch phase. It added that "future volumes will depend on market demand."

The ribbon cutting ceremony for the Nissan plant in St. Petersburg was held on June 2, 2009. It currently produces the Nissan Teana business class sedan. Production at the plant will ultimately rise to 50,000 units a year.
