Russian electricity output falls 6.5% in 10 mths, 3.6% in Oct

MOSCOW. Nov 5 (Interfax) - Russian electricity output fell 6.5% year-on-year in January-October to 788.7 billion kilowatt-hours and 3.6% in October, the Systems Operator said.

Coal- and gas-fired power plants generated 459.9 billion kWh, down 12.1% year-on-year, while hydro-plants raised it 9.6% to 140.91 billion kWh and nuclear plants cut it 1.7% to 131.2 billion kWh.

Power consumption fell 6.4% year-on-year to 776.9 billion kWh.

October output fell 9.2% year-on-year to 51.4 billion kWh at coal- and gas-fired plants, but rose 6.4% to 12.9 billion kWh at hydroplants and 9.4% to 14.2 billion kWh at nuclear plants.

Consumption fell 6.4% year-on-year in October to 17.3 billion kWh.
