Dollar falls by 40 kopecks in MICEX, ruble posts gains against bi-currency basket
MOSCOW. Nov 5 (Interfax) - The U.S. dollar plummeted by around 40 kopecks on the MICEX on Thursday owing to positive U.S. economic stats and the euro's gains on the forex. The ruble regained against the bi-currency basket during the day.
The dollar fell by 39.75 kopecks on the MICEX to close at 28.98 rubles/$1 while the euro went up by 17 kopecks to finish at 43.2095 rubles/EUR1.
The bi-currency basket dropped by 14.5 kopecks to close at 35.38 rubles.
The dollar's average weighted exchange rate on the MICEX went down by 11.2 kopecks to 29.1474 rubles/$1 in Today deals on Thursday and by 19.93 rubles to 29.1252 rubles in Tomorrow deals. Total dollar trading on the MICEX amounted to $3.89 billion with $967.9 million in Today deals and $2.922 billion in Tomorrow deals.
The euro went up 7.3 kopecks to 43.2181/EUR1 rubles in Today deals and 18.63 kopecks to 43.2456 rubles/EUR1 in Tomorrow deals. Total euro trading came to 214.7 million euro, of which 72.1 million euro were Today deals and 142.6 million euro were Tomorrow deals.
The overnight MIACR came to 5.29%, up 15 basis points for the day.
