Russia exports $10.7 bln in ferrous metals in 9 mths
MOSCOW. Nov 6 (Interfax) - Russia exported 27.73 million tonnes of ferrous metals for a total of $10.668 billion in January-September 2009, the Federal Customs Service (FCS) said.
These exports accounted for 11.6% of overall Russian exports to the non-CIS in value.
Ferrous exports to the non-CIS fell 14.1% in tonnage, including 16.6% for iron and non-alloyed steel semis, 16.5% for pig iron and 7.9% for ferroalloys, however flat iron and unalloyed steel products were up 34.1%.
Ferrous exports accounted for 13.6% of Russian exports to the CIS, up from 13.2% a year previously. Exports to the CIS fell 42.9% in value. They fell 30.7% in tonnage, including drops of 25.2% for iron and non-alloyed steel semis, 50.2% for flat iron and unalloyed steel products, 73.7% for direct reduced iron products and 74.2% for flat alloyed steel products.

Russia imported 2.507 million tonnes of ferrous metals for $2.313 billion in the nine months. These imports constituted 5.2% of overall Russian imports (5.2% also in January-September last year). They fell 46.8% in tonnage and 41.6% in value.
Ferrous metals accounted for 18.5% of overall imports from the CIS (22.4% in the same period of last year).
