Putin: Regions must select investment projects with foreign participation more scrupulously

MOSCOW Nov 10 (Interfax) - Investment projects in border regions must reflect the regions' development plans and comply with Russia's national interests, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said.

Careful attention must be given to the fact that all of these projects must correspond to the regions' long-term development plans and comply with Russia's national interests in general," Putin told the State Border Commission on Tuesday.

"Regional authorities should be more careful while selecting investment projects with foreign participation," he said.

"Clearly enough, preference must be given to initiatives which aim to launch new production facilities in Russia and to broadly introduce advanced know-how," Putin said.
