KYIV. Nov 12 (Interfax) - Ukraine's commercial seaports in January-October 2009 decreased total cargo handling 20.1% year-on-year to 89.96 million tonnes, the State Administration for Sea and River Transport told Interfax.

In part, over the ten months, the state enterprise Commercial Seaport Yuzhny (Odesa region) lowered cargo handling by 18.7% to 14.82 million tonnes.

Mariupol Commercial Seaport in the Donetsk Region reduced cargo handling by 21.3% to 10.8 million tonnes, Odesa Commercial Seaport - 22.3% to 22.58 million tonnes and Port of Ilyichevsk - 14% to 13.847 million tonnes.

A total of 18 seaports operate in Ukraine.
