Russian car production plummets 62% in 10 mths

MOSCOW. Nov 17 (Interfax) - Russia produced 483,000 cars in January-October, down 62% year-on-year, the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) said.

Decline was level with January-September in the ten months.

Car production plummeted 58% year-on-year in October nut was up 5.1% compared with September.

Output of goods vehicles fell 70% year-on-year in the ten months to 70,500 units. Output fell 54% year-on-year in October but rose 28% compared with September 2009.

Bus production in the ten months fell 55% year-on-year to 26,000 units. It fell 32% year-on-year in October, but grew 9.8% from September 2009.

Automobile tyre production fell 32% year-on-year in the ten months to 23,200 tyres.
