Transaero flies 14% more passengers in Oct

MOSCOW. Nov 18 (Interfax) - Transaero Airlines increased passenger transport by 13.8% year-on-year in October to 452,800 persons, the company said in a statement.

Passenger throughput came to 1.7 billion passenger kilometers, an increase of 17.4% from October 2008.

In October, the company flew 3,621.8 tonnes of cargo and post, a year-on-year increase of 24%. Cargo turnover went up by 19% to 172.3 million tonne kilometers.

The company said that the biggest growth in passenger transport took place in October compared to the previous months.

This year, Transaero opened nine new routes inside Russia from Moscow: to Blagoveschensk, Irkutsk, Kazan, Magadan, Omsk, Samara, Ufa, Krasnodar and Kemerovo. In November-December, the company plans to start flights to Ulan-Ude, Magnitogorsk and Novy Urengoi
