VEB to discuss buying into RUSAL IPO

MOSCOW. Nov 19 (Interfax) - The supervisory board at Vnesheconombank (VEB) will discuss the possibility of VEB buying into the IPO by aluminum giant RUSAL at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Vladimir Putin on Thursday, the Kommersant newspaper quoted a source on the VEB board as saying.

Another source told the paper on condition of anonymity that the possibility of VEB buying into the IPO was the aluminum company's own initiative.

A government source told the paper that Oleg Deripaska, RUSAL's core owner and general director, had been invited to the meeting.

The Vedomosti newspaper gave a slightly different version: it quoted sources close to VEB as saying the bank's board would be considering the RUSAL IPO because its consent as creditor was needed for the offering to go ahead.
