Russian cuts coal production 9.2% in Oct
MOSCOW. Nov 20 (Interfax) - Russia cut coal production 9.2% year-on-year in October to 27.2 million tonnes, the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) said.
Coal production fell 12.2% year-on-year in January-October. It rose 2.3% in October compared with September.
Bituminous coal production in October fell 6.8% from the same month last year to 20.5 million tonnes, and was level with September 2009.
Lignite coal production fell 15.8% year-on-year in October to 6.7 million tonnes, but was 10.2% higher than in September and fell 20.6% year-on-year in the ten months.
Coking coal production grew 8.9% year-on-year in October and was 0.7% higher than in September at 6 million tonnes. Coking coal production fell 10.3% in the ten months.
