Russia cuts steel output 22% in 10 mths

MOSCOW. Nov 24 (Interfax) - Russia cut crude steel production 21.7% year-on-year in January-October to 48.3 million tonnes, the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) told Interfax.

Converter steel production fell 11.8% to 31 million tonnes, and electric steel production fell 24.3% to 13.3 million tonnes.

Pig iron production plummeted 17.7% to 35.8 million tonnes.

Finished roll production dropped 17.5% year-on-year to 41.8 million tonnes. Output of long products shrank 19.9% to 23.5 million tonnes, stainless steel - 39.5% to 58,100 tonnes and flat products - 13.6% to 18 million tonnes.
