Gas exports from Russia to increase to 3490368 bcm, domestic consumption to reach 605-641 bcm a year

MOSCOW. Nov 26 (Interfax) - Russia's exports of gas will reach 349-368 billion cubic meters from 241 bcm in 2008, according to the country's Energy Strategy until 2030, which has received government approval.

During the first stage of the strategy (2013-2015), exports will increase to 270-297 bcm and by the second stage (2020-22) to 332-341 bcm.

Domestic consumption of gas in Russia will increase from 457 bcm in 2008 to 478-519 bcm in the first stage, second stage - 539-564 bcm and third stage (by 2030) - to 605-641 bcm.

Exports to Asian Pacific countries will account for 11-12% of export in the first stage, 16%-17% in the second stage and 19%-20% in the second stage. In 2008, Russia did not export gas to these countries.

Liquefied natural gas (LNG) will account for 4%-5% of exports in the first stage, second stage - 10%-11% and will increase to 14-15% by 2030. Russia did not export LNG in 2008.

The document said that the length of trunk gas pipelines will increase by 8%-10% in the first stage, second stage - 13%-15% and by 2030 - 20%-23%.

Reconstructed active gas pipelines will account for 11% of the United Gas Supply System in the first stage, 12%-13% in the second stage and 25%-26% in the third stage. In 2008, this figure came to 4%.
