Energy Ministry postpones until 2010 oil, gas sector development scheme

MOSCOW. Nov 30 (Interfax) - The Russian Energy Ministry has once again postponed the date for completing the general scheme for development of the oil and gas sector to 2030, a source at the ministry told Interfax.

The document is now scheduled for completion in the second half of 2010, the source said.

The ministry originally planned to have the general scheme completed in April 2009. It subsequently postponed the date for submitting the document to the government until November 2009.

"The general scheme for the gas sector will be revised based on the results of the meeting on developing gas fields in Yamal and agreements on deliveries to China. We expect to sign that agreement with China at midyear and after that, in the second half of the year, we will submit the general scheme," the source said.

"Roughly at the same time the general scheme for the oil sector will also be completed," he said.
