Armenia cuts ferromolybdenum output 6.7% in 10 mths
YEREVAN. Nov 30 (Interfax) - Armenia reduced ferromolybdenum production 6.7% year-on-year in January-October to 4,243 tonnes, the National Statistics Service said.
Molybdenum concentrate production fell 3.8% to 7,106 tonnes.
Copper concentrate production grew, by 21.6% year-on-year to 70,876 tonnes. Converter copper production rose 4.9% to 5,707 tonnes but zinc concentrate production fell 20.2% to 5,241 tonnes.
Armenia boosted aluminum foil production 77.4% year-on-year in January-October to 17,280 tonnes. The Yerevan-based RUSAL-Armenal plant, which is owned by Russian aluminum giant UC RUSAL, produced the foil. It also produced 44.1 tonnes of other aluminum products, down 75.9% year-on-year.
The United States was the biggest foil consumer.
Foil production fell 4.6% to 11,694 tonnes in 2008.
The foil mill was shut for an overhaul between 2004 and 2006. It achieved full capacity for 25,000 tonnes of foil per year at the start of 2009.
