Beijing. November 31. INTERFAX-CHINA - China Telecommunications Corporation Ltd. (China Telecom) is testing fixed mobile convergence (FMC) services in seven provinces in preparation for its national FMC service launch, a China Telecom source told Interfax on Nov. 31.

"China Telecom is researching IMS (IP multi-media subsystem) enabled FMC services, like mobile video conferencing and mobile video on-demand (VOD), on its CDMA2000 1x EV-DO network. We are in the process of constructing a national IMS platform to enable wireless access from fixed line services," the source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said.

"China Telecom's headquarters projects that FMC services will be ready to launch as early as during the first half of 2010," the source said.
