Number of loss-making banks in Russia rises to 171 in October
MOSCOW. Dec 3 (Interfax) - The number of loss-making banks in Russia rose to 171 in October from 142 previously, the Central Bank said in a statement.
Total pre-tax losses at these banks totaled 8.2 billion rubles in October and 141.4 billion rubles in January-October, up from 133.2 billion rubles in January-September.
The combined pre-tax profit of profitable banks, which declined to 896 from 931 banks, posted profits totaling 44.7 billion rubles in October, on top of profits in January-September totaling 164.4 billion rubles.
