Azerbaijan lowers export of petroleum products by 21% in 11 mths

BAKU. Dec 7 (Interfax) - State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) exported 1.852 million tonnes of petroleum products to the world markets in January-November 2009, a year-on-year drop of 20.7%, the company told Interfax.

A total of 1,336,629 tonnes of diesel fuel was delivered to foreign markets, as well as 215,572 tonnes of gasoline, 295,392 tonnes of aircraft fuel and 34,497 tonnes of heating fuel.

In November, SOCAR exported 123,410 tonnes of petroleum goods to the world markets, including 105,650 tonnes of diesel fuel, 3,988 tonnes of aircraft fuel, 12,984 tonnes of gasoline and 788 tonnes of heating oil.

Azerbaijan's two oil refineries, Azerneftyag and Baku Oil Refinery, have capacity to refine 22 million tonnes of oil per year. Both are owned by State Oil Company of the Azerbaijani Republic (SOCAR).
