SUBR reduces production shipments by 2% in 10 mths

YEKATERINBURG. Dec 11 (Interfax) - North Urals Bauxite Mine (SUBR, based in the Sverdlovsk region and part of RusAl), shipped 4.3 billion rubles in production in January-October 2009, a year-on-year decrease of 2%, the Sverdlovsk Governor's Office said in a statement.

Viktor Vekselberg, RusAl's chairman and head fo the Renova Group of Companies, was in discussions on Thursday with Sverdlovsk Governor Alexander Misharin about aluminum production in the region. They discussed promoting production on both domestic and international markets, as well as other measures of state support.

In addition to SUBR, RusAl also controls the Bogoslovsky and Uralsk aluminum plants, as well as Urals Foil, Polevsky Cryolite Factory and SUAL-Kremnyi Ural.

Owing to declining aluminum prices on the world market, a decision was made to lower production at the Bogoslovsky and Uralsk aluminum plants. According to RusAl, in the first quarter of 2009, production at these plants and SUBR were at 80%-95% of output posted in the same period of 2008. The company has yet to release more detailed figures on production at these facilities.
