Dollar and euro post steady gains on MICEX

MOSCOW. Dec 16 (Interfax) - The U.S. dollar and euro posted steady gains in MICEX trading on Wednesday as uncertainty still reigned on capital markets in the lead-up to a meeting of the Federal Reserve System of the U.S.

The dollar climbed by 6.5 kopecks to finish at 30.255 rubles/$1 in Tomorrow trades while the euro increased by 15 kopecks to 44.05 rubles/EUR1.

The dollar's average weighted exchange rate on the MICEX went up by 6.41 kopecks to 30.2075 rubles/$1 in Today deals on Wednesday and by 5.69 kopecks to 30.247 rubles in Tomorrow deals. Total dollar trading on the MICEX amounted to $4.381 billion with $1.217 billion in Today deals and $3.164 billion in Tomorrow deals.

The euro went down by 1.17 kopecks to 43.9065 rubles/EUR1 rubles in Today deals and 4.72 kopecks to 43.0144 rubles/EUR1 in Tomorrow deals. Total euro trading came to 176.5 million euro, of which 80.5 million euro were Today deals and 96 million euro were Tomorrow deals.

The overnight MIACR came to 6.13%, down one percentage point for the day.
